Using a precise quenching and tempering process Okatsune turns high quality steel into blades that test 60 to 61 on the Rockwell C hardness scale. Okatsune harvesting shears are made from special grade forged high carbon steel, precisely heat treated and tempered and precision ground, to produce blades that will keep their edges longer. The V shaped spring apportions the load evenly over the length of the spring resulting in a very soft closing action, ideal for repetitive use over extended periods. The distinctive red & white handles are not only highly visible, but also serve to distinguish the individually shaped handles, designed to nestle in the palm of the hand. A red finger loop is provided to prevent accidental dropping of the shears during use.

O-301 Fruit picking shears

A 25mm curved blades with rounded tips allows quick and easy harvesting of fruits such as citrus, grapes, avocado, persimmons without damage to the fruit. The very sharp curved blade also makes these an ideal choice for de-budding.

O-304 Pointed thinning shears

These shears feature 50mm needle-point blades, ideal for reaching into tight spaces e.g. thinning bunches of grapes. Blades have a double beveled edge to facilitate cutting stalks. The easy spring action & light weight make this ideal wherever repetitive, no-crush cuts are required; picking fruit or flowers, cutting buds, gathering vegetables. The long lasting sharpness makes this an excellent softwood propagation tool.

O-306 Rounded tip harvesting / propagation shears

These shears feature 50mm rounded tip blades. The wider, single bevel edged blades are stiffer than needle point blades, providing good tip strength and protection of fruit, flowers or hands. Ideal for harvesting, floral & propagation work - cutting soft stems & flat or leafy material e.g. flowers, vegetables, tomatoes, garlic, onions.
